: Spiritual Voyages: Giving Warning When Navigating Your Course

It’s 5:45am and the sun is still concealed beneath the clouds, hiding in the mist of the distant shore.
My twenty-year old Siamese cat and I are outside enjoying the sounds of nature.
In the pre-dawn window, it’s mostly quiet, but I hear some birds who are starting their morning song, as is their habit to honor the mighty Creator.
I hear a nervous, noisome honk coming from the distant shore. I admit.
I am a bit resentful this water bird has spoiled my peaceful scene.
Musing to myself, I presume “a lone goose has lost its way as it wandered off from the flock.”
Upon writing this blog, I did not know that geese have different vocalizations that help identify several things.
For instance, I was unaware that geese honk to encourage one another and “keep up the morale of the flock.”
Geese “talk to one another” to coordinate movements, and ensure no one is left behind
To avoid collisions while in flight, or signal danger, geese use a loud honk in an effort to keep the group in unison.
Researchers tout that when you see geese flying in a v-formation, the honking acts as a navigational tool – to keep the group organized, especially over long distances.
Last summer when I was outside enjoying my first cup of coffee, a gaggle of geese waddled up the boat ramp – which is next to our house.
About eleven geese and their babies were seeking fresh green grass on which to graze.
I recall how the soft, chattering noises and gentle murmurs quickly changed to hissing, when they saw me getting too close – sensing I was a threat of danger to the babies.
It took me aback for a moment when one of the adults communicated a loud bark of rebuke to me that I was pressing their limits of comfort.
Disclosing essential information, like a goose who is aware of a potential predator, is indeed needful, but boosting morale is just as important, wouldn’t you say?
What is your communication style? Is it weak and passive? Angry and Aggressive?
What do you crave? What are desperate for? What do you greatly desire?
What do you require today as your trek through life?
As a child therapist I would often model how to “use feeling words and I statements” – showing my little kiddos how to appropriately, assertively express needs/wants.
Isaiah 65:24 promises “Before you call, I will answer you.”
I have found that as I “cry out” to the Master of the Universe – sometimes even before I am able to utter a sound or make a request, I am assured my unspoken want has been noted by Almighty God.
Isn’t it awesome to know our Heavenly Father is preparing the way…navigating life’s concerns … even before we can make a sound or utter a prayer.
Take refuge knowing our Lord hears all unspoken requests.
